A bit of history
Fluminense lifted their first Libertadores in 2023, beating Boca 2-1 at the Maracaná, after finishing runners-up in 2008. Rio's Tricolor plays in the temple itself: the Maracaná.
Fun fact
The talc is not decoration: the nickname pó de arroz was born in 1914 as an América taunt aimed at Carlos Alberto, a Black player who used powder on his face after shaving. Fluminense took the insult and turned it into a party, and now that white cloud drifts over the Maracaná every time the team walks out.
Why follow them
Up top it is pure pedigree: Hulk for the goals, Lucho Acosta and Ganso to make them. Under Marcão (coach since August 2026) they still press hard and defend harder, but they reach the semifinal without Germán Cano, out injured until November.
